RACHEL HANNAN 

Rachel has an effortless, startling purity of voice and simplicity of approach. Having gigged solidly throughout Sydney and up and down the East Coast for the past 30 years, she understands what her listeners want to hear with her cool, easy approach to jazz and latin repertoires. Classically trained and hailing originally from Newcastle, then finally fleeing the Sydney CBD, Rachel has been settled in the Blue Mountains for over 20 years. She performs regularly with various lineups, records, writes and teaches singing. She also practices as an expressive arts therapist and creative artist.

 

Rachel's professionalism and experience was reflected in the positive feedback  and immediate National Airplay (ABC Classic FM, Radio National and numerous regional stations) that her first album The Sweetest Sound received in 2004, and her second album, For You, in 2008.

 

She performs primarily with John Stuart on 7 string guitar. The duo have been performing together for over twenty years, and have an easy, improvisational feel, imbued with intimacy and familiarity. Stuart has been a professional guitarist for forty years and has played with many of the greatest Australian Jazz and Blues artists, in Australia and overseas.
